MP Satnam Sandhu records 100% attendance, raises 29 questions in Monsoon session

Chandigarh, August 24, 2026: Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Satnam Singh Sandhu recorded 100 per cent attendance and participated in 11 debates during the recently concluded Monsoon Session of Parliament, while raising 29 questions across 28 ministries on issues concerning Punjab and matters of national importance.
Sandhu was among the Punjab MPs who attended all 19 sittings of the session. According to the details shared in connection with his parliamentary performance, his overall attendance since his nomination to the Rajya Sabha in January 2024 stands at 92 per cent, compared with a national average of around 80 per cent.
During the Monsoon Session, Sandhu raised issues relating to Punjab's agriculture, water security, foodgrain storage, healthcare, tourism, heritage preservation and connectivity. He also participated in the discussion on the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2026, supporting the legislation during its consideration in the Rajya Sabha.
Among the Punjab-specific issues raised by him was the need to promote tourism in the state and preserve heritage associated with Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Ropar. He also raised the need for a regional mechanism for flood management, strengthening FCI storage capacity, modernising Punjab's canal system and rejuvenating wetlands.
Other issues raised by Sandhu included the drug menace, cooperative sugar mills, agricultural concerns, cancer-care infrastructure and international connectivity from Chandigarh.
During the session, Sandhu also made three Special Mentions and three interventions during Question Hour. His interventions covered subjects across 28 ministries, including agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, technology, environment and governance.
He also raised concerns related to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in schools and spoke on broader issues such as digital sovereignty, quantum technologies, emerging skills and India's space programme.
Sandhu's parliamentary activity has extended beyond Punjab-specific matters. Since entering the Rajya Sabha in January 2024, he has participated in 115 debates and raised 225 questions, according to PRS records cited in the statement. He has also introduced four Private Members' Bills.
These include the Recognition of Legal Person Status of Rivers Bill, 2024, which proposes legal personhood for rivers; the Kisan Jeevan Suraksha Evam Durghatna Pratipurti Vidheyak, 2025, relating to insurance and compensation for farmers; the National Ranking and Accreditation Authority for Higher Educational Institutions Bill, 2025; and the Pravasi Bharatiya Kaushal Evam Pratibha Prerak Vidheyak, 2025, aimed at utilising the skills and expertise of the Indian diaspora for national development.
Sandhu has also raised matters of wider national interest, including the development of Jammu and Kashmir, regulation of medicine prices, railway connectivity to major pilgrimage destinations, expansion of hydrogen-powered rail services and India's achievements in the space sector.
His parliamentary interventions have also covered issues concerning farmers, education, the Sikh community, minorities, the Indian diaspora, technology, infrastructure, environmental protection, healthcare, cooperative institutions, tourism, entrepreneurship and digital governance.
The latest session adds to Sandhu's parliamentary record since his nomination to the Rajya Sabha in 2024. His participation through debates, questions, Special Mentions and Private Members' Bills has focused on bringing both state-specific concerns and broader policy issues before Parliament.
