Bomb threat email triggers security scare at Distt Court Complex
Ferozepur, August 26, 2026: The Ferozepur District Court Complex was once again placed under a security alert after an email threatening to blow up the court premises was received, prompting police to cordon off the complex and launch a thorough search of the entire area.
Following the threat, all entry and exit points of the court complex were closed and movement of people and vehicles was temporarily stopped. Police personnel conducted searches of the premises, while security teams checked every possible location before allowing normal movement to resume.
This is reportedly the fourth such bomb threat received by the court complex in the past six months. Previous threats were also found to be hoaxes, but the repeated nature of such emails has caused concern among lawyers, litigants and visitors.
Rakesh Bharti, advocate and member of the District Bar Association, said, “This is not the first time that such a threat has been received to blow up the court complex. This is the fourth such threat in the last six months, but it was found to be a hoax.”
He said that security at the court complex needs to be strengthened, particularly at the entry and parking points. “There is a need to install metal detectors at the entry point. The parking area is open and anybody can park a vehicle inside the court complex, so proper checking of vehicles is necessary,” he said.
Bharti further said that although the police were carrying out their duties seriously, repeated fake threats were causing considerable inconvenience to lawyers, clients and other people who come to the court to attend hearings.
The repeated threats have also raised questions about the source of the emails, as the police have so far been unable to identify the person or group behind them. Each incident leads to a security operation and investigation, but the matter eventually appears to lose momentum after the threat is found to be false.
With a large number of litigants visiting the court complex every day, lawyers have urged the authorities to strengthen permanent security arrangements, including screening of vehicles and visitors, to prevent any potential security lapse.
