Kewal Singh Dhillon demands CM Mann’s resignation over alleged transfer-posting row

Jalandhar (Punjab), September 2, 2026: BJP Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over allegations contained in the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) report submitted before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, alleging that a transfer and posting racket was operating with the alleged involvement of people close to the Chief Minister’s Office.
Addressing a press conference in the presence of BJP State Media Head Vineet Joshi, Dhillon accused the AAP government of failing to act despite repeated communications from the ED seeking registration of an FIR.
Dhillon alleged that the ED report raises serious questions over the functioning of the Punjab government and contains allegations relating to the transfer and posting of senior officials, leakage of confidential government documents, alleged manipulation of government tenders, securing of arms licences for money and irregularities in land transactions.
He claimed that the alleged network could not have operated without political protection at a high level and alleged that the Chief Minister’s Office was at the centre of the system.
Referring to AAP’s political narrative of transparency and honesty, Dhillon said the model promoted by the party in Delhi had been exposed and was now facing similar questions in Punjab.
“Liquor in Delhi, transfers in Punjab — the game remains the same,” he said, referring to the controversies that have surrounded AAP governments.
‘Why No FIR Despite ED Letters?’
Dhillon questioned why no FIR had been registered despite what he described as seven communications from the ED to Punjab Police.
“If the Chief Minister’s Office were truly clean, why would Punjab Police be too afraid to act even after seven letters?” he asked, alleging that the delay raised questions about the state government’s intentions.
He further alleged that a “marketplace” for transfers and postings of senior officials had emerged under the present government, with middlemen and intermediaries allegedly influencing the process.
Dhillon also claimed that attempts were being made to suppress media reports concerning the allegations, alleging that the Chief Minister’s Office was using legal notices to pressure media organisations to remove reports.
He said such alleged attempts to restrict reporting raised further questions about the government’s willingness to face scrutiny.
The BJP leader accused the AAP government of betraying the people of Punjab and demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann resign on moral grounds.
Dhillon also called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged transfer-posting racket and demanded immediate registration of FIRs against all those found responsible.
The allegations made by Dhillon and the BJP come amid an ongoing dispute between the ED and Punjab Police over material supplied by the central agency in connection with an alleged transfer-posting network. The ED has maintained that it has provided material to the state authorities and has sought registration of an FIR, while Punjab Police has sought additional and properly authenticated records before proceeding further.
