WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY
Students raise voice for hope and suicide prevention at 'Awareness Talk Show'
Ferozepur, September 11, 2026: A special 'Awareness Talk Show' by students to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, observed every year on September 10, was organized at Vivekananda World School.
Giving details about the initiative, Dr. S. N. Rudra, Director, Vivekananda World School, said the day aims to raise awareness about suicide prevention and underline the importance of hope, empathy, emotional well-being and timely support. He stressed that open and sensitive conversations can encourage people facing emotional or mental difficulties to share their feelings and seek appropriate help.
During the Talk Show, students Sarman, Arpan, Tanu, Prabhnoor, Parnit, Zannat, Anvi and Sezal shared their views on suicide prevention and emotional well-being. They highlighted the importance of understanding emotional struggles, listening without judgement, supporting one another and expressing feelings during difficult times.
The activity provided students an opportunity to understand the value of empathy, responsible communication and emotional support. It also encouraged them to become more sensitive towards the feelings of others and recognise that care, patience, support and a sincere conversation can make a positive difference in someone’s life.
Dr. Rudra said the responsibility of schools goes beyond academic development and includes creating a safe, sensitive and supportive environment where students can discuss their concerns without hesitation. He encouraged students to listen to one another with empathy, support those in need and seek help from parents, teachers, trusted adults or ask for qualified professionals whenever required.
