Dehradun (Uttarakhand), September 12, 2026: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on September 10 said the 1984 anti-Sikh violence would never be forgotten by the nation or forgiven by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking during his visit to Uttarakhand, Nabin said the atrocities committed against innocent Sikhs in 1984 were an “inhuman sin” and asserted that the BJP would never forget the suffering of the community.
He said the Sikh community has made significant sacrifices for the country and has always stood for India’s security and honour.
Nabin also alleged that those responsible for the 1984 violence were repeatedly protected by people in power instead of being brought to justice.
He said that after the Narendra Modi-led government came to power, the BJP government took steps to ensure that those responsible for the 1984 riots were brought to justice.
The BJP has maintained that the party has pursued justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence and has repeatedly criticised previous governments over the handling of the cases.
