A Soulful Evening of Poetry Celebrates the Eternal Bond of Motherhood

Nawanshahr, September 14,2026: The timeless bond between a mother and her children came alive through poetry, music and heartfelt memories at a soulful literary evening organised at Sajawalpur village at the residence of Gurnek Sher, former president of Navjot Sahit Sanstha (Regd.), Aur.
Dedicated to the cherished memory of Late Amar Kaur Mander, who passed away recently in Canada, the gathering became a poignant tribute to her life journey and the enduring values she left behind. The evening celebrated motherhood as an embodiment of unconditional love, sacrifice, compassion and strength, with poets and writers presenting compositions that captured the profound emotional world of a mother and her irreplaceable place in the family.
The audience was treated to evocative presentations of songs, poems and ghazals by Principal Ram Nath Kataria, Rajni Sharma, Des Raj Bali, Hari Krishan Patwari, Rajwinder Kaur Nagra, Neeru Jassal, Manpreet Kaur Sodhia, Amarjit Kaur Chander and other literary personalities.
Addressing the gathering, Navjot Sahit Sanstha president Davinder Skohpuri described motherhood as the very soul of a family. He said a mother's affection and nurturing play a profound role in the holistic development of children, while her presence becomes a source of emotional strength, blessings and goodwill for the entire family.
Writer Surjit Majari paid his own tribute to motherhood, underlining the deep respect and gratitude that every generation owes to the woman whose love and sacrifices quietly shape the course of family life.
A warm welcome was also extended to Gurnek Sher and his wife Balvir Kaur, who recently returned to their homeland from Canada. Members of the Sanstha honoured the couple with floral garlands and interacted with them about the contemporary state of Punjabi language, literature and cultural activities in Canada.
Sharing his impressions, Gurnek Sher appreciated the Sanstha for nurturing an atmosphere of affection, belonging and familial warmth among its members. He said such a close-knit spirit was a testimony to the organisation's commitment not merely to literature, but also to human relationships and cultural bonds.
The programme was conducted by Sanstha secretary Dr. Kewal Ram, while Punjabi lecturer Raj Rani proposed the vote of thanks.
