Chandigarh, September 14, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the concluding programme of the Bharatiya Janata Party's "Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras" in Jalandhar on September 30.
The BJP is organising the state-wide anti-drug campaign from September 18 to 30, with four yatras planned across different parts of Punjab.
The campaign will begin on September 18 from Ekta Sthal in Sujanpur, Pathankot, where BJP national president Nitin Nabin will flag off the initiative.
The four proposed routes are Sujanpur in Pathankot to Jalandhar Cantt, Fatehgarh Sahib to Phagwara, Fazilka to Ludhiana, and Talwandi Sabo to Rajpura.
The yatras are being organised to mobilise public support against drug abuse and spread awareness about the need for a drug-free Punjab, with a particular focus on young people.
Senior BJP leaders are expected to participate in the campaign at different stages. Union Cabinet Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Arjun Ram Meghwal and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta are also scheduled to join the yatras.
The campaign will culminate in Jalandhar on September 30, where Amit Shah is scheduled to address the closing programme.
The BJP has positioned the campaign as a major state-wide mobilisation against the drug menace in Punjab.
