SAD expands manifesto committee from 9 to 20 members, brings in young and women leaders

Chandigarh, September 14, 2026: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has expanded its Manifesto Committee from nine to 20 members, bringing together senior leaders, women representatives and younger leaders as part of the process of drafting its manifesto.
The expanded committee will be chaired by senior party leader Balwinder Singh Bhundar, while Daljit Singh Cheema will serve as its secretary.
The reconstituted panel includes experienced leaders such as NK Sharma along with younger and women leaders. Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjher, Kanchanpreet Kaur, Zahida Suleman, Arshdeep Kler and Ranbir Singh Dhillon are among those included in the expanded committee.
The party said the expansion was aimed at bringing together political experience, fresh perspectives and wider representation while framing its manifesto.The move is also intended to provide greater space to younger leaders and incorporate their views and aspirations into the party’s policy and electoral agenda.
The SAD said the expanded committee would work towards reflecting the concerns and expectations of different sections of Punjab in its manifesto.
