Patiala, Punjab, September 14, 2026: Police on Monday used water cannons to disperse protesting Congress leaders outside the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) office in Patiala during a demonstration over power-related issues.
Several Congress leaders and workers were detained during the protest, including Punjab Congress president and MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
The protesters had gathered outside the PSPCL office to raise concerns over power cuts and the electricity situation in the state. Tensions escalated when the demonstrators attempted to move towards the office premises, following which police used water cannons to disperse them.
Warring and other party leaders were subsequently taken into custody by the police.
