No Bypoll in Punjab now as AAP government enters last Six months of power

Chandigarh, September 16, 2026: There will be no bypoll in Punjab as of now as Bhagwant Mann led AAP government entered its last six months of power. Election Commission of India (ECI) can announce Assembly elections for the state anytime now though elections are held in month of February every election year. Last time elections were held on February 13, 2022.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has claimed that his government has fulfilled all election promises made in 2022. Though employees are protesting on their demand of release of Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and implementation of Old Pension Scheme besides other demands. Farmers are protesting against power cuts.
Government is under tremendous fiscal pressure besides several political issues are troubling the government.
As there is no possibility of by-election, switchover by MLAs of different political parties can be witnesses in days to come besides other political leaders.
