Dehradun (Uttarakhand), September 18, 2026: A new Hindi feature film inspired by the revered Kumaoni folk deity Golju Devta is currently in development, with the project set to explore themes of faith, Dharma, nature and the relationship between human life and the divine.
The film will be presented in Hindi for a wider audience while retaining its cultural roots in Kumaoni traditions, folklore, rituals, music, beliefs and the landscapes of Uttarakhand, popularly known as Devbhoomi.
The project is being undertaken with the support and association of Savikriti Wildlife Indian Federation, an organisation working in the areas of nature and wildlife conservation and cultural heritage preservation.
According to the project announcement, the film aims to bring together environmental consciousness, faith, Dharma and cultural preservation through cinema, with Golju Devta’s divine grace and the region’s folk traditions forming the central inspiration.
The film is being directed by Snehil Sharma and produced by Jolly.
The makers said the film revolves around the idea that when faith connects with nature and Dharma awakens the human conscience, it can lead to a deeper sense of awareness and transformation.
The title of the film is currently being kept under wraps. Further details about the cast, storyline and production schedule are expected to be announced later.
