Punjab-Haryana High Court Orders CBI Probe into ED Allegations; CBI Asked to Act Within Two Months-We Respect Court Orders -Aman Arora

Chandigarh, October 5, 2026: In a significant development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday ordered a CBI probe into allegations referred by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning alleged corruption and interference in government functioning in Punjab.The order was pronounced by the Chief Justice Mr Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Mr Rohit Kapoor.
The High Court has now handed over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation and directed the agency to take appropriate action and submit its report within two months. The allegations are subject to investigation and have not been established against the persons named.
Punjab Cabinet Minister and AAP Punhab president said that they will respect the court orders.
The order relates to three communications sent by the ED to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, seeking registration of an FIR on allegations involving OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and private persons including Nitin Gohal and Bir Devinder. The allegations include alleged interference in transfers and postings, government tenders and other official matters.
The ED had approached the Punjab Police for registration of an FIR, but no FIR was registered. A PIL filed by advocate Nikhil Saraf subsequently sought an independent investigation by the CBI.
The matter was heard by a Bench led by Chief Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor. The Bench had earlier observed that the allegations required a careful response from the authorities
The development comes amid a wider ED investigation into alleged irregularities involving government approvals, transfers, postings and land-related matters in Punjab.
