Chandigarh, October 5, 2026: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday heard the case concerning the release of pending installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Punjab government employees and pensioners. Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha appeared before the court during the proceedings.
During the hearing, the Punjab government, though an affidavit, informed the High Court that its appeal in the matter is pending before the Supreme Court.
Taking note of the submission, the High Court directed its Registry to obtain information from the Supreme Court Registry regarding the current status of the appeal filed by the Punjab government and place the information before the court on Tuesday morning.
The High Court has fixed the next hearing for October 6. The court also made it clear that Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha will have to remain present during Tuesday’s hearing.
The next hearing is being closely watched by Punjab government employees and pensioners awaiting the release of their pending DA installments.
