Thousands join ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ in Amritsar to spread drug-free Punjab message

Amritsar (Punjab0, October 11, 2026: Thousands of young people, sportspersons and residents participated in ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ in Amritsar on Sunday as part of the Punjab government’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign against drugs.
The marathon began at 6 am from Ranjit Avenue and brought together participants from different age groups to promote sports, fitness and a drug-free Punjab.
The event was flagged off by AAP Punjab Working President and MLA Aman Sher Singh Shery Kalsi, who said the participation reflected the willingness of young people to embrace sports and healthy living.
“The massive participation in Youth Run Punjab 2026 showcases the real achievements of our state. Thousands of young people have come together today to promote fitness, sports and a drug-free Punjab,” Kalsi said.

He added that the government was working to help people affected by drug abuse return to constructive lives, alongside other welfare initiatives.
AAP chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the marathon series had also received a strong response in Mohali, Bathinda and Jalandhar. He described the Amritsar event as the fourth programme in the series and highlighted the participation of young people and wrestlers from the Majha region.
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said the participation of children and young people sent a message in favour of fitness and a healthier lifestyle.
According to the organisers, more than one lakh people have participated in the ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ events held across Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar and Amritsar so far. The series has brought together young people, women, children, sportspersons and senior citizens to promote awareness against drug abuse.
The Aam Aadmi Party’s Youth Wing organised the event as part of its efforts to mobilise young people against drugs and promote the vision of a drug-free Punjab.
