Chandigarh, October 13, 2026: Former CSIR-IMTECH professor and scientist Dr. Swaranjit Singh has released a guitar-based song promoting mental health awareness on the occasion of World Mental Health Day at Gurudwara Sector 34 in Chandigarh.
The song addresses lifestyle challenges affecting mental and physical well-being, urging people to avoid alcohol and substance abuse, manage stress and limit excessive mobile phone use. It also promotes healthy habits such as regular exercise, meditation, balanced nutrition, early rising and spending quality time with family and friends.
Dr. Singh has combined music with a message on healthy living, using the composition to encourage people, particularly young people, to adopt habits that support their overall well-being.
A former senior principal scientist and head at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH), Dr. Singh has undertaken postdoctoral research at institutions in the United States, Japan and Germany. He has also been recognised among the world’s top 2% of scientists for five consecutive years, according to the information provided.
Beyond his scientific work, Dr. Singh serves as director of the SAS Free Polyclinic in Perch, Mohali, which provides charitable healthcare services.
His musical compositions and awareness initiatives have been presented at schools, colleges and universities, as well as on platforms associated with international scientific and health organisations.
