Mansa (Punjab), October 19, 2026: Bhim Singh, father of late Parvinder Singh Jhota, has said that his family and sympathisers will not oppose Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his proposed visit to Mansa, asserting that any opposition to the minister would amount to opposition to him personally.
Amid reports that an action committee and some other groups could protest against Shah’s visit, Bhim Singh issued a clarification, saying the family wanted the Home Minister to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into the matter.
He said his family had faith in the Union Home Minister and expected him to help ensure justice in the case involving his son.
“If anyone opposes Amit Shah, they should understand that they are opposing me,” Bhim Singh said while speaking to the media.
He added that the family would not support any attempt to disrupt the Home Minister’s visit. People visiting the family to offer condolences or express solidarity were welcome, he said.
Bhim Singh also maintained that decisions concerning the matter would now be taken with the family’s consent and under the leadership of Manpreet Kaur, wife of the late Parvinder Singh Jhota. He said the family had not been fully informed about certain decisions taken in recent days, prompting it to clarify its position.
The administration and security agencies are yet to release the official programme for Shah’s visit. The venue and details of his proposed interaction with the family have not been confirmed.
