IAS officer Rajarshi Mitra gets new assignment at Centre

Chandigarh, October 19, 2026: The Centre has approved the appointment of Rajarshi Mitra, a 2012-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, as Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration in West Bengal under the Central Staffing Scheme.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on October 11, 2026, Mitra’s appointment will be for three years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The West Bengal government has been asked to relieve him of his current duties immediately so that he can take up the new assignment.
