Chandigarh, October 21, 2026: Punjab BJP State General Secretary Anil Sareen has demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over reports that he was stopped at Delhi Airport for three hours after returning from France and was fined ₹50,000.
In a statement issued from the BJP office in Chandigarh, Sareen asked the Chief Minister to clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported incident and disclose the reasons for the alleged fine.
He demanded that Mann make the challan public and explain which rule was allegedly violated and on what grounds the penalty was imposed.
Sareen said the people of Punjab had the right to know the facts and urged the Chief Minister to address the matter personally before the media.
He said that holding a constitutional office did not place anyone above the law and that public accountability and compliance with legal requirements were essential. If the matter involved baggage inspection or customs regulations, the relevant details should be made public, he added.
Referring to earlier controversy surrounding the Chief Minister’s Germany tour, Sareen alleged that the latest incident had again caused embarrassment to Punjab. He called for a clear explanation to prevent speculation over the matter.
The allegations regarding the airport incident and the reported fine were raised by Sareen. No independent confirmation of the circumstances or the stated penalty was provided in the statement.
