SDM stops two Combine Harvesters operating at night, warns action for violating rules
Guruharsahai, October 22, 2026: The district administration is conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with the instructions issued regarding paddy harvesting, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Deepshikha Sharma.
As part of the ongoing drive, a team led by SDM Guruharsahai Hardeep Singh stopped two combine harvesters found harvesting paddy at night during an inspection. The operators were directed not to carry out paddy harvesting during night hours.
SDM said, the late-night paddy harvesting can affect the quality of the harvested crop due to high moisture levels in the grain, particularly when dew begins to settle on the fields. Excess moisture can create difficulties during threshing, storage and procurement, potentially leading to grain damage and quality issues. Night-time harvesting may also pose safety risks for combine operators and other farm workers due to reduced visibility.
He appealed to farmers and combine harvester operators to strictly comply with the orders issued by the District Magistrate regarding paddy harvesting.
The district administration would continue its inspection drive to prevent violations and ensure adherence to government instructions, he added.
