Food Safety team seals 500 kg Khoya at Foji Sweets in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, November 4, 2026: The Food Safety Department on Wednesday sealed around 500 kg of khoya at Foji Sweets in Chhianpaurian during a special inspection drive against suspected food adulteration. Samples were also collected from two khoya manufacturing units, Foji Sweets and Gabbar Sweets, for laboratory testing.
The department conducted inspections at both units under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, as part of its ongoing efforts to check the quality and safety of milk-based products and sweets.
While samples from both manufacturing units have been sent to a government food laboratory for analysis, the 500 kg stock found at Foji Sweets has been sealed pending further action. The decision regarding its use or sale will depend on the laboratory report and applicable legal procedures.
Officials are making efforts to obtain the test reports on priority, preferably within two days. If the samples are found to be substandard, unsafe or adulterated, strict legal action will follow against the concerned units under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department has warned manufacturers of sweets and milk-based products against compromising on food quality and directed them to maintain proper hygiene, use quality raw materials and ensure safe storage conditions.
The inspection drive will continue in the coming days to safeguard public health and prevent the sale of unsafe food products said Abhinav Khosla Food Safety Officer.
