Office of Registrar General, India invites applications for 26 posts on deputation; Check vacancies and pay scales

New Delhi, October 11, 2026: The Office of the Registrar General, India (ORGI), under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, has invited applications for 26 specialist posts on a deputation basis, including short-term contracts.
The vacancies cover positions related to mapping, research, drawing and linguistics, with postings at the ORGI headquarters in New Delhi and Directorates of Census Operations in various state capitals.

The recruitment notification lists the following posts and pay levels:
- Assistant Registrar General (Map): One post, Pay Level 12, with a pay scale of ₹78,800 to ₹2,09,200.
- Research Officer (Map): 12 posts, Pay Level 10, with a pay scale of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
- Research Officer (Drawing): Three posts, Pay Level 10, with a pay scale of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
- Research Officer (Language)/Linguist: One post, Pay Level 10, with a pay scale of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
- Map Analyst: Nine posts, Pay Level 8, with a pay scale of ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100.
Who can apply?
According to the recruitment details provided, eligible officers serving in Central and State governments, Union Territory administrations, recognised universities, research institutions, public sector undertakings, and statutory or autonomous bodies can apply, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. Officers from semi-government organisations are also eligible for the Map Analyst post.
The deputation tenure will initially be three years or until further orders, as specified in the notification.
