Breaking: Opposition uproar disrupts Parliament; Lok Sabha adjourned till Monday

New Delhi, July 24, 2026: The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed repeated disruptions on Friday as opposition members staged protests in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, forcing adjournments amid persistent sloganeering.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 11 am on Monday, while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Friday after proceedings were repeatedly interrupted.
The opposition intensified its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, raising slogans and protesting inside the House. The disruptions prevented normal legislative business, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the Lok Sabha.
The Centre, however, maintained that it is prepared to discuss all issues on the floor of Parliament and urged the opposition to allow the House to function in accordance with parliamentary traditions. The government said differences should be resolved through debate rather than disruptions.
Meanwhile, attention has shifted to a key meeting expected between the Centre and the concerned stakeholders, with hopes that it could help break the deadlock and pave the way for the smooth functioning of Parliament.
In a related development, social activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike on Friday after Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda offered him juice. However, the opposition has continued to press its demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, showing no signs of softening its stand.
