Engineer Punnerdeep Singh Brar takes charge as Director/Generation of PSPCL

Patiala (Punjab), June 5, 2026:Engineer Punnerdeep Singh Brar has taken over as Director/Generation after being appointed to this important position by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Friday.
Before being posted to this post, Engineer Brar was serving as Engineer-in-Chief (P&M) at Ludhiana and was the senior-most Chief Engineer serving in PSPCL.
With over 34 years of experience in the power sector, he brings extensive technical and administrative expertise to this post.
After assuming charge, Engineer Brar thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund and Secretary Power-cum-Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) PSPCL Dr. Basant Garg for reposing faith in him and entrusting him with this responsibility.
He said he would strive to live up to their expectations and work diligently to strengthen the state's power generation infrastructure.
Brar said that his top priority would be to ensure smooth operation of Punjab's thermal and hydel (hydroelectric) power stations during the paddy season, when there is a huge increase in power demand.
It is noteworthy that he was also a member of the team constituted by PSPCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply for eight hours during the day to the farmers during the agricultural season.
His extensive experience in the power sector is expected to further strengthen PSPCL's efforts to provide reliable and efficient power services across the state.
Engineer Brar, a resident of Faridkot, has served in various capacities during his long career and has a rich experience of working in Thermal Generation, Distribution, Enforcement, Material Services and Commercial Organization of PSPCL. His appointment is being seen as a significant step towards increasing efficiency and strengthening the power supply system in Punjab.
