Hoshiarpur: 206 villages achieve target of 100 percent vaccination
Sets single-day target to administer more than 85,000 doses on July 3 during mega camps
Hoshiarpur, July 1, 2021:
Becoming a leading district in the state for vaccination in rural areas, Hoshiarpur district on Thursday completed 100 percent vaccination in 206 villages besides setting a target of administering more than 85,000 doses in a single day during mega camps to be held on July 3 both in rural as well as urban areas.
All the beneficiaries above the age of 18 years in the said villages were vaccinated by the teams of the Health Department. The District Administration has further intensified the efforts for ensuring inoculation of all eligible beneficiaries with setting up more than 170 session sites in the district to facilitate the people during mega camps slated for July 3. The beneficiaries can get themselves vaccinated with first and second, which is required, dose of Covishield by furnishing their Aadhar Card to the vaccinators.
Giving information about the ongoing vaccination drive in rural areas, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said that the teams of district administration and health department were in constant touch with the panchayats and sarpanches to ensure timely vaccination. She said that the efforts were receiving encouraging responses from the residents of villages that could be gauged from the number of 206 villages with 100 percent vaccination. In coming days the remaining villages will also be covered as per the availability of vaccine, she added.
Speaking about the mega camps scheduled for Saturday, Apneet Riyait said that the district administration had set a target to administer more than 85,000 doses in one day in rural and urban areas as the session sites were already finalised. She said that besides Hoshiarpur, Mukerian, Garhshankar, Tanda, and Dasuya the areas in different health blocks of Mand Bhander, Buddabar, Bhunga, Binewal, Sham Churasi, Chakkowal, Mahilpur, Paldi, Talwara, Hajipur, Bhol Kalota, Kamahi Devi will witness special vaccination camps. She appealed to the beneficiaries above the age of 18 years to visit these camps and received the jab of COVID vaccine so that the infection could be contained efficiently.
