Tarn Taran (Punjab)August 10, 2025:Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President and former Khadoor Sahib MLA, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the newly formed political organization by breakaway Akali factions, alleging that its leaders have "stabbed the Panth in the back" for their personal ambitions.
In a statement issued here, Brahmpura said that former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh's acceptance of the presidency of a political faction is a "violation of Sikh traditions" and has exposed his "double standards" before the community.
"These leaders, driven by a lust for posts, have come together for their personal interests and have become guilty of the great sin of dividing the Panth," he said.
Slamming Giani Harpreet Singh directly, Brahmpura stated, "It is extremely surprising that the same Giani ji, who once called for Panthic unity from the revered Akal Takht Sahib and on whose advice we returned to our mother party, has now cast aside those great principles to become the president of a political party, thereby paving the way for divisions within the Panth."
He added that the Panth has always recognized two primary institutions: the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for religious propagation and the Shiromani Akali Dal for the political rights of the community.
Brahmpura claimed that the rebels have proved their fight is a personal one against SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal, not for the Panth.
"When we had earlier parted ways with the party over certain issues for the welfare of the Panth, none of these leaders were willing to join us, which makes it clear that their aim was never to serve the Panth, but only to attain power," he alleged.
Expressing full faith in Sukhbir Singh Badal's leadership, Brahmpura praised his recent appeal for unity.
"Sukhbir Singh Badal, with a large heart and humility, appealed for everyone to return. He even said that if he has made any mistakes, he should be punished, but this great institution of the Panth should not be weakened. By rejecting his Panth-centric appeal, these leaders have proven that for them, personal posts are more important than the Panth," he said.
Brahmpura called upon all supporters of the Panth to unite. "The Shiromani Akali Dal is our mother party, and it is our collective duty to strengthen it. Let us, under the far-sighted and capable leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal, take the Shiromani Akali Dal to new heights again and establish our own government of the Panth, Punjab, and Punjabiyat in Punjab in 2027," he urged.
