Kurukshetra (Haryana), October 7, 2025 — The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) plunged into turmoil today after 17 members announced the withdrawal of their support from Committee President Jagdish Singh Jhinda, demanding his resignation on moral grounds.
At a special meeting held at the committee’s head office, Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Chhevin in Kurukshetra, under the chairmanship of Senior Vice President Gurmeet Singh Ramsar, members accused Jhinda of “wrongdoing and arbitrariness” in the functioning of the committee.
Vice President Gurbir Singh Talakaur told reporters that Jhinda, who was elected president with the backing of 29 members in a 49-member house, no longer holds the majority after 17 of his supporters withdrew. “President Jhinda has lost the vote of confidence and should step down immediately or prove his majority by calling a General House for a floor test,” Talakaur said.
He added that despite written requests signed by 17 members — more than the 15 required under the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Act, 2014 — Jhinda has refused to convene the General House, violating the Act.
The members further alleged that Jhinda continues to make unauthorized transfers, promotions, and retirements of employees even after the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission imposed a stay on such actions without General House approval.
They also accused him of mismanagement, citing the committee’s failure to pass the annual budget and the resignation of several staff members due to his “dictatorial behavior.”
The meeting urged Jhinda to “stop wrongful activities” and immediately convene a General House meeting to prove his majority.
Among those present at the meeting were Jathedar Baljit Singh Daduwal (Chairman, Dharam Prachar Committee), Gurmeet Singh Ramsar (Senior Vice President), Gurbir Singh Talakaur (Vice President), and several other members including Rupinder Singh Panjokhra, Jagtar Singh Mann Mithri, Tajinderpal Singh Narnaul, Joga Singh Yamunanagar, Swaran Singh Bunga Tibbi, Gurtej Singh Ambala, and Bibi Kartar Kaur Shahbad Markanda.
