Himachal Jal Shakti Dept begins recruitment for Para Pump Operators, Fitters and Multi-Purpose Workers

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), August 3, 2026: The Himachal Pradesh Jal Shakti Department has initiated a recruitment process for Para Pump Operators, Para Fitters and Para Multi-Purpose Workers to support the operation and maintenance of drinking water and irrigation schemes across the state.
Offline applications have been invited through Jal Shakti divisions across Himachal Pradesh. The recruitment aims to ensure the availability of local manpower for the smooth functioning and maintenance of water supply and irrigation projects in rural and urban areas.
Selected candidates will be required to work for six hours a day. Para Pump Operators and Para Fitters will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 7,100, while Para Multi-Purpose Workers will be paid Rs 6,000 per month.
Candidates between 18 and 45 years of age are eligible to apply. The application process will remain offline, and interested applicants must submit their forms at the offices of the concerned Jal Shakti divisions.
For the posts of Para Pump Operator and Para Fitter, candidates must have passed Class 10 and possess an ITI certificate or a certificate under a government skill development scheme in the relevant trade. Para Multi-Purpose Worker applicants must have passed at least Class 8.
Recognised trades for Para Pump Operators include Electrician, Wireman, Diesel Mechanic, Pump Mechanic, Motor Mechanic and Pump Operator-cum-Mechanic. Candidates applying for Para Fitter posts must possess qualifications in the Fitter or Plumber trade.
Selection will be based on a 10-mark evaluation system, taking into account educational qualifications, work experience, reservation-related criteria and skill or physical tests.
For Para Pump Operators and Para Fitters, five marks will be allotted for Class 10 performance, one mark for candidates belonging to BPL families, two marks for relevant work experience and two marks for skill and physical tests.
For Para Multi-Purpose Workers, six marks will be awarded based on Class 8 marks, two marks for experience and two marks for the physical test.
The skill assessment for Para Pump Operators will include basic pump repairs, identification of motor and electrical faults, alignment and valve operations. Para Fitters will be assessed on their ability to repair pipeline leakages, carry out threading and operate pipe-fitting equipment.
Physical fitness will be mandatory for all three categories, as selected workers may be required to carry pipes and equipment in hilly and difficult terrain.
Applicants will have to submit documents including a Himachali bonafide certificate, educational certificates and mark sheets, age proof, relevant ITI certificates, character certificate, reservation certificate, BPL certificate, where applicable, and experience certificates.
The last date for submitting applications in the Kasumpti Division is August 20. The deadline may vary across other Jal Shakti divisions, and candidates have been advised to check with their respective division offices for details.
The performance of selected workers will be reviewed every three months. They will be required to submit quarterly self-assessment reports to the concerned Junior Engineer. Their work and conduct will also be evaluated at the end of the financial year, and services may be discontinued following repeated unsatisfactory performance in accordance with departmental rules.
