Chandigarh, October 8, 2025: Abhinav Uniyal, a B.Tech 3rd-year student pursuing Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at College of Engineering (COE), CGC Landran, has been appointed as the new Google Developer Group (GDG) Lead for the 2025-26 term.
He succeeds Deepti Midha and will be responsible for overseeing the GDG chapter’s activities on campus at CGC Landran. Abhinav has been involved with the GDG community at CGC Landran since joining as a core team member.
He progressed to the management team, served as Management Head and was GDG Co-Lead for 2024-25. His appointment followed a multi-stage selection process, including submission of a written application detailing his motivation, leadership experience and vision for GDG assessing his presentation and communication skills.
His appointment also reflects the continuation of leadership in the GDG chapter and the structured process for selecting the lead from among active student members.
As GDG Lead, Abhinav will organize workshops, hackathons, tech-talks, and other development activities to provide CGC students with exposure to current technologies and opportunities for practical learning and collaboration. The GDG chapter at CGC Landran was established in 2018 and has been providing students with a platform for technical learning and community engagement.
He credited guidance and support from CGC Landran, his faculty mentors Dr. Pardeep Tiwana and Dr. Sushil Kamboj, who assisted him in organizing GDG activities. He looks forward to creating opportunities for fellow peers at CGC to engage with technology, participate in collaborative projects and gain practical experience.
