Language Dept to provide Free Books under Book Matching Grant Scheme
Ferozepur, May 14, 2026: With the objective of promoting book culture across the state, the Punjab Language Department has announced the distribution of free books under its “Book Matching Grant” scheme. The initiative, launched under the guidance of Director, Language Department Punjab, Jaswant Singh Zafar, aims to benefit schools, colleges, and rural libraries.
Providing information regarding the scheme, Assistant Director Tejinder Singh Gill said that institutions purchasing books from the department will receive free books of equal value under the matching grant scheme. He said the initiative has been introduced to encourage reading habits and strengthen literary culture among students and the general public.
District Language Officer, Ferozepur, Dr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu appealed to all schools, colleges, and rural libraries in the district to take maximum advantage of the Punjab Government’s beneficial scheme. He informed that interested institutions can submit a request letter on their official letterhead, signed by the head of the institution, at the District Language Office, Ferozepur.
Dr. Sandhu further stated that all educational institutions and rural libraries in the district have already been informed through official communication and a list of available books has also been provided to them.
He added that special discounts are also being offered on book purchases by the Language Department. A discount of 10 percent will be provided on purchases up to Rs 500, 15 percent on purchases between Rs 501 and Rs 1000, 25 percent on purchases between Rs 1001 and Rs 2000, 30 percent on purchases between Rs 2001 and Rs 3000, and up to 40 percent discount on purchases above Rs 3000.
