Chandigarh, June 16, 2026:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), alleging that he was openly functioning as a promoter of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
In a post on social media, Mann claimed that the SGPC chief was behaving like a campaigner for the Akali Dal and sarcastically remarked that the only thing left was for the Jathedar to issue a religious directive asking Sikhs to vote for SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, warning that the Panth would otherwise be in danger.
The Chief Minister further suggested that such a decision could be taken at any time, intensifying the ongoing political and religious controversy in Punjab.
