MLA Sarari highlights importance of Yoga for healthy living at International Yoga Day Celebrations
Ferozepur, June 21, 2026: The 12th International Yoga Day (IYD) was celebrated at the Cantonment Board Stadium, Ferozepur Cantonment, with great enthusiasm. The district-level event was organised by the Directorate of Ayurveda, Punjab, in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush and District Administration Ferozepur. This year’s theme was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The event was attended by MLA from Guru Har Sahai, Fauja Singh Sarari, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal, wife of Ferozepur Urban MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Himanshu, and SDM Ferozepur Abhishek Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Fauja Singh Sarari and Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal said that yoga plays a vital role in maintaining physical and mental health. They highlighted that regular practice of yoga helps calm the mind, strengthen the body, and overcome various health issues. They appealed to people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and spread awareness about its benefits.
Assistant Commissioner Himanshu and SDM Abhishek Sharma said that yoga has become increasingly important in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. They stated that yoga helps individuals remain physically fit and mentally balanced while reducing stress and preventing several lifestyle-related ailments.
Leading the yoga session, Yoga Acharya Prabodh Monga explained various yoga asanas and their benefits. He said that a combination of yoga postures, pranayama, and meditation helps in achieving physical fitness, mental peace, and spiritual well-being.
Around 600 participants took part in the yoga session with great enthusiasm. On the occasion, saplings were presented to special guests as a gesture of honour, and participants were encouraged to plant more trees for environmental protection.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Raviinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh Bhavra from the Education Department.
Among those present were District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Rupinder Kaur, DEO (Secondary Education) Munila Arora, Deputy DEO Dr. Satinder Singh, Red Cross Secretary Sunil Dutt, Nodal Officer Dr. Rakesh Grover, Dr. Sumit Monga, Dr. Jaskamal, Dr. Daljit Singh, President NIMA, Dr. Yuvraj Narang, officials from various departments, members of Yoga Sadhana Kendra Ferozepur, and a large number of citizens.
