Eradication of Polio a collective responsibility: Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi
3-day Pulse Polio Campaign launched in Ferozepur; Dr. Meenakshi appeals for collective efforts to eradicate polio
Ferozepur, June 28, 2026:
The three-day Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign was launched in Ferozepur under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, with children being administered polio preventive drops at designated booths.
Appealing to the public, Dr. Meenakshi urged parents to take their children aged 0-5 years to the nearest polio booth and ensure they receive the life-saving drops. She stressed that eliminating a dreaded disease like polio is the collective responsibility of everyone and sought cooperation from people to make the campaign completely successful.
Dr. Dhingra informed that polio drops were administered to children at booths across all urban and rural areas of Ferozepur district on the first day of the campaign.
Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakkar and District Immunisation Officer Dr. Shaina said that during the three-day drive, teams are visiting booths and transit points to cover maximum children. Children who could not receive the drops on the first day will be administered polio drops at their homes on June 29 and 30 by health department teams.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Deputy Mass Media Officers Ankush Bhandari and Neha Bhandari said that mobile health teams are covering children up to five years of age living in slum areas, temporary settlements, brick kilns, industrial units and other vulnerable locations.
Apart from health department employees, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, nursing students and representatives of social organisations are also extending support in the campaign. Supervisors have been deployed to ensure that no child in the district remains deprived of polio preventive drops.
The Civil Surgeon further stated that programme officers are regularly monitoring the teams working in different areas to ensure complete coverage of children under five years and achieve the goal of a polio-free district.
