Chandigarh lawyers to resume court work from this date

Chandigarh, July 31, 2026: The District Bar Association, Chandigarh, has announced that lawyers will resume court work on Monday, August 3, following a decision taken by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Bar Associations of Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The decision was conveyed in a notice issued by the District Bar Association, which said its members would follow the resolutions adopted by the JAC in connection with the ongoing agitation against the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Policy.
The association said that during its General House meeting held on July 27, members unanimously resolved to abide by the decisions of the Joint Action Committee regarding the agitation.
In accordance with the JAC resolution passed on July 30, the District Bar Association has asked all its members to resume court work on August 3.
The association, however, said it would continue to follow and implement any further decisions taken by the Joint Action Committee. It added that the outcome of the JAC’s proposed meeting with the competent authorities would be followed by the association “in letter and spirit.”
