Chandigarh, August 28, 2026: The Directorate of School Education (Secondary) has reported zero cases of unauthorized absence among its staff during the statewide ‘Maha Hartal’, following the Punjab government's directive to identify employees who remained absent without approval.
In an official communication to the Secretary of the Education Department, the Directorate responded to the Personnel Department's request for details of employees who had participated in the mass leave.
The Directorate stated that after reviewing attendance records, no staff member in the secondary education wing was found absent without authorization. The attendance report submitted by the department has consequently been marked ‘NIL’.
The report comes amid the Punjab government's efforts to monitor attendance during the employees' statewide protest over pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and pension-related demands.
