Railway staff returns lost bag containing laptop, Rs 1.2 lakh cash and important documents to women passenger
Ferozepur, October 22: In an exemplary display of honesty and promptness, railway staff of Ferozepur Railway Division at Jalandhar Cantt railway station safely returned a laptop bag containing ₹1.2 lakh in cash, a purse and important documents belonging to a woman passenger.
The woman was travelling on train No. 22488, the Amritsar–Delhi Vande Bharat Express, when she accidentally left her laptop bag behind at Jalandhar Cantt railway station in a hurry on October 22, 2026.
Upon realising that her bag was missing, she informed her family members, who immediately contacted Hemant Sharma, Chief Ticket Inspector on duty at Jalandhar Cantt. Acting promptly, Sharma traced the bag and, after proper verification, handed it over safely to the passenger’s family member.
The woman’s family expressed gratitude to the ticket-checking staff for their prompt action, honesty and dedication.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Basant Kumar appreciated Sharma’s commendable effort, describing the incident as an excellent example of the honesty, devotion to duty and service-oriented approach of railway employees towards passengers.
