Historic Gurdwara Sahib demolished in Balochistan to construct a Mall, RP Singh demands GoI intervention

New Delhi, August 28, 2026: BJP National Spokesman RP Singh has disclosed that another historic Gurdwara Sahib in Balochistan has allegedly been demolished, and now a mall is being constructed on the same site and he has sought urgent intervention from Government of India in the matter.
In a tweet, he said that according to the Balochistan Sikh Council, this is yet another extremely alarming example of the systematic destruction and gradual erasure of Sikh religious heritage in Pakistan. Reports received from the Sikh community indicate that there were once 12 Gurdwara Sahibs in Balochistan, of which only 2 now remain. Meanwhile, the number of historic Sikh religious sites across the entirety of Pakistan is steadily declining.
He said that a Gurdwara Sahib is not merely a building or a piece of land. It is a sacred site connected to the history, faith, struggles, and sacrifices of the Sikh faith. Demolishing a Gurdwara Sahib and constructing commercial property in its place is a grave insult to Sikh heritage and religious sentiments.
He urged Ministry of External Affairs to immediately raise this matter with the Government of Pakistan and demand that:
A full and independent investigation be conducted into the demolition of the Gurdwara Sahib.
Any commercial construction taking place on the land of the Gurdwara Sahib be immediately halted.
The reconstruction, preservation, and restoration of the historic Gurdwara complex be ensured.
The security of all remaining Gurdwaras and Sikh religious properties in Balochistan and across the entirety of Pakistan be ensured.
Accountability be established for those responsible for demolishing the Gurdwara and subsequently enabling commercial construction.
The Government of India has already strongly condemned the recent demolition of the 125-year-old Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib in Farrukhabad, describing it as "extremely reprehensible and targeted vandalism" and demanding its restoration.
He also appealed to the Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take immediate cognizance of this serious matter and issue a strong and clear statement against the destruction of Sikh religious heritage in Pakistan.
He said that If historic Gurdwaras are demolished today and malls are erected on the same sites tomorrow, the world cannot remain a silent spectator.
He said that this is not merely a question of saving a building.
This is a question of saving Sikh history, heritage, and identity.
This is a question of preserving the sacred memories of Nishan Sahib and Guru Sahiban.
MEA must intervene.
Akal Takht Sahib must speak out.
Pakistan must be held accountable.
