Ferozepur, August 29, 2017: During the curfew as a preventive measure following the announcement of punishment to Dera Chief by the CBI court, two motorcycle-borne persons, with their faces covered alleged threw bottles filled with an inflammable material, on the doors of a gurdwara with intention to put on fire, around 3 pm on Monday at Dhindsa village, 20 km from Ferozepur.
A case under Sections 295-A and 427 of the IPC has been booked under the unidentified persons on the complaint of Gurdev Singh, Granthi.
Immediately on getting the information, IG, DC, DIG and SSP reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Since nothing could be recorded in the CCTV cameras, a forensic team was called to determine what kind of material was thrown inside the Gurdwara as there were reports of recovery of petrol bombs in certain parts of the state following conviction of Dera Chief with an aim to damage the public and government property to show resentment aginst the decision of the CBI court.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramvir said, there was no damage to the shrine, it looks to be work of anti-social elements to disturb the peace. He further said, it was all peaceful during the curfew periods in the district.
