Haryana Roadways suffers Rs 14 crore loss due to Dera violence
Chandigarh, August 30, 2017: Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar on Wednesday said that the Haryana Roadways suffered losses to the tune of Rs 14 crore during violence triggered by conviction of Sirsa Dera chief in two rape cases.
Addressing a press conference here, Panwar said that bus service in the State has been resumed except in Sirsa, where curfew has been imposed in the area around Dera Sacha Sauda.
No bus of Haryana Roadways, private operators and transport departments of other states was damaged during the violence, he added.
The Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Jails, said that the rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was being treated as an ordinary inmate and no additional facility was being provided to him.
Stringent security measures had been put in place in the Rohtak jail where convicted self-styled godman was lodged, he added.
