HC orders investigation of Sirsa Dera properties’ status
Chandigarh, September 27, 2017: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday passed order for filing report on legal status of all Dera properties.
The HC Bench asked Haryana Advocate General to file report as amicus curie Anupam Gupta stated that all buildings in the Dera were illegally constructed as no permission for CLU and environmental clearances were sought.
The HC also directed the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department to investigate all the moveable and immovable assets of the Dera.
The Bench also directed the SIT to conduct investigation in cases of all missing persons. Advocate Navkiran Singh pointed out that 25 persons were reported missing from the Dera headquarter.
The Court Commissioner AKS Pawar sought more time to submit report to the HC as regards search of Dera properties ordered by it. Nothing objectionable had been found during the search so far, he stated.
The Bench also directed Punjab and Haryana government to set up a tribunal to examine all types of damage during the violence by Dera followers post conviction of their chief. The State of Punjab filed an affidavit with regard to claim of damage to properties of people.
The hearing in the case was adjourned for November 8,2017
