Chandigarh, August 29, 2017: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday ordered for setting up a joint Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to probe cases related to violence at Panchkula and other places.
The HC wanted that the officers of ADGP level only should be taken as members of the proposed SIT.
The mandate of the SIT will be to probe the cases and submit its report to the HC.
The HC made it clear that no FIR would be cancelled without its knowledge.
On the objections raised by Defence counsel regarding firing at the Dera followers, the HC observed that it was a war-like situation and it required to be dealt with accordingly so that nobody dared create such a situation in future.
The HC also asked for submission of details of Dera assets, damages done in Punjab and Haryana due to the violence, the number of naam charcha ghar of the Dera searched and recoveries made from there to it.
The next date of hearing was fixed for September 27.
