Bomb threat emails sent to 8 schools; Police and bomb squad on high alert

Gandhinagar/New Delhi, December 17, 2025: Panic gripped parts of Gujarat on Wednesday after eight schools, including seven prominent schools in Ahmedabad and one in Kalol, received bomb threat emails, triggering an immediate security response from the police and district administration.
According to officials, the threats were sent via email, warning of explosions scheduled for 1:30 pm. Upon receiving the alerts, police authorities, bomb disposal squads, and emergency services were swiftly mobilised to assess the situation.
Following the receipt of the threatening emails, the police control room was put on high alert. As a precautionary measure, all students and staff were immediately evacuated from the affected schools and sent home safely. Fire brigade teams were also deployed outside the school premises to ensure security and assist in emergency preparedness.
Local police, along with dog squads and Special Operations Group (SOG) teams, reached the locations to conduct thorough searches. The cyber crime branch has launched an investigation to trace the origin of the suspicious emails.
At Zydus School in Vejalpur, four fire tenders, a rescue van, and an ambulance were stationed outside the campus. Authorities sealed off public movement within a 50-metre radius of the school as a safety measure.
