Chandigarh: 4 IPS, DANIPS officers get new charges

Chandigarh, September 7, 2026: The Chandigarh Police has ordered a reshuffle involving four senior officers, with new responsibilities assigned to them with immediate effect.
According to posting orders issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), UT Chandigarh, the officers have been given their new charges following formal approval from the Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh.
Rajesh Kumar Sharma, IPS (2014 batch), who has joined Chandigarh on transfer from Jammu and Kashmir, has been posted as SSP/Operations, Cyber Crime and Commandant/IRB, besides being given charge as Assistant Commandant General, Home Guards.
Vinit Kumar, IPS (2018 batch), transferred from Delhi, has been appointed SP/Headquarters & Communication, with additional charge of the Vigilance branch.
Anurag Daru, IPS (2022 batch), earlier serving as Commandant/IRB with additional charge of SP/Security & Traffic, has been posted as SP/Crime, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), and Security & Traffic.
Vijay, DANIPS, has been transferred from SP/Headquarters & Communication and posted as SP/City, Women & Child Support Unit (W&CSU), and Intelligence.
The orders further state that Rajiv Ranjan Singh, IPS, DIGP, UT Chandigarh, will oversee the work of Headquarters, Operations, Cyber Crime, Communication, Vigilance, Crime, EOW, IRBn and Assistant Commandant General, Home Guards.
The reshuffle has been implemented with the approval of the DGP, UT Chandigarh.
