Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026: IAF begins Operational phase at Jodhpur

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), September 27, 2026: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has commenced the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, bringing together air forces from India and seven partner countries for multilateral air operations.
Being conducted from September 26 to October 12, the exercise is themed “Power in Partnership”, highlighting cooperation, operational interoperability and the exchange of expertise among participating air forces.
Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating as Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs). The exercise features a range of foreign aircraft, including the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A.
The exercise builds on the inaugural edition held in 2024 and will involve joint training, operational interactions and missions involving participating contingents and IAF combat and support platforms. Several other foreign countries are also participating as observers.
The IAF said the exercise will focus on interoperability, mutual learning, aerospace safety and a better understanding of operational procedures and capabilities. Aircrew, mission planners and operational support personnel from participating countries will engage in professional exchanges during the exercise.
Beyond flying operations, the exercise will include a seminar, an industrial tour for foreign contingents, the Sekhon Marathon, heritage tours and yoga sessions.
The IAF said Tarang Shakti 2026 will also provide an opportunity to showcase India’s operational capabilities and indigenous aerospace and defence ecosystem.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening military cooperation, professional ties and interoperability among participating air forces while supporting broader defence engagement and regional security cooperation.
