School set ablaze by unknown miscreants

Arunachal Pradesh, July 28, 2025 – A shocking incident has come to light from Arunachal Pradesh, where unidentified miscreants set fire to an upper primary school in Lipu Bagda village, located near Aalo, the district headquarters of West Siang.
The school, which housed classes for nursery to grade 2 students, was completely destroyed in the fire.Though the incident took place on Sunday night, it came to notice only Monday morning, sparking panic and outrage in the area.
West Siang SP Kardak Riba called the incident a "mystery," noting that there were no witnesses, no fire alarm raised, and not even a nearby teacher noticed the blaze. A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, with investigations underway using technical surveillance.
Local MLA Topin Ete condemned the arson, calling it a “cowardly act” and directed authorities to ensure relief and alternate learning arrangements for the affected students.
“Education is the foundation of society. Such acts will not weaken our resolve,” Ete said, expressing solidarity with the students and community of Lipu Bagda.
The police are continuing their investigation to trace those responsible.
