No FIR without concrete evidence, says Aman Arora over ED letters

Chandigarh, September 2, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora has taken a firm stand against the repeated letters being sent by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to the Punjab Police seeking registration of an FIR in the alleged “cash-for-transfer” and land fraud case.
Arora said that an FIR cannot be registered unless the ED shares credible and concrete evidence with the Punjab Police to substantiate the allegations.
Responding to the ED’s third letter, dated August 31, Arora alleged that the matter was part of a political campaign being pursued by the BJP-led Central government to defame the AAP government and its leaders. He accused the Centre of misusing central investigative agencies to target the Punjab government.
Arora also claimed that the documents shared by the ED were not legible. He alleged that his name and, at times, that of his colleague Lal Chand Kataruchak were being linked to the case. Referring to the arrest of former minister Sanjeev Arora, he also questioned the ED’s action in the matter.
The ED, meanwhile, has asked the Punjab Police to register an FIR immediately on the basis of information regarding alleged money laundering that it had previously shared with the state police. In its latest communication, the agency reportedly pointed out that 30 days had passed since its first letter and warned that further delay could lead to evidence being tampered with or destroyed. The case came into the spotlight following ED raids at the premises linked to Nikhil Gohal in May.
Rejecting the allegations against him, Aman Arora said the charges concerning changes made to the CLU (Change of Land Use) and layout plan of the Alts project during his tenure as Housing Minister were baseless.
Arora claimed that between 2011 and 2022, during the tenures of the Akali-BJP and Congress governments, the project had been granted six CLUs and changes to its layout plan had also been made by previous governments. According to Arora, all these changes were legally valid.
He further claimed that two FIRs on which the ED was allegedly relying had already been quashed by the courts.
