MLA Dahiya inaugurates renovated canal project to boost irrigation in 10 villages
Ferozepur, June 10, 2025: Large-scale efforts are underway to lay pipelines and concrete canal channels in Ferozepur Rural to ensure the supply of canal water to the fields. This was highlighted by MLA Rajnish Dahiya while inaugurating the renovation project of the Balewala Head Machhiwara Link Channel, which aims to increase its water capacity by 20%.
MLA Rajnish Dahiya stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, work is progressing at a war footing across Punjab to ensure canal water reaches the tail ends of fields. The government is determined to deliver water to every field by cementing link channels and expanding pipelines.
He further informed that the 9-kilometer-long Balewala Head canal channel has been renovated and concretized. This channel will now irrigate approximately 3,600 acres of farmland, benefiting 10 surrounding villages. The project, completed at a cost of ₹6.5 crore, will deliver 25.80 cusecs of canal water directly to the agricultural fields.
At the inauguration, canal department officers, including as well as Panch and Sarpanch representatives from 15 villages and Aam Aadmi Party leaders were present.
