Congress suffers major setback in Mohali as around 50 members join AAP

Mohali (Punjab), December 29, 2025:The Congress received a major political setback in Mohali on Monday as around 50 families from Sectors 114 and 70 joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Addressing the media, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh said that the families were impressed by the policies of the AAP and its commitment to public service. Welcoming them into the party, he assured that all new members would be given due respect and that their concerns and public-related works would be addressed on priority.
Kulwant Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has been working with seriousness and sensitivity towards the people. Highlighting the achievements of the Mann government over the past four years, he cited initiatives such as 300 units of free electricity, employment opportunities for youth, Mohalla Clinics, and the ₹10 lakh insurance scheme set to be implemented from January.
He added that the process of people joining the Aam Aadmi Party would continue in the future due to the government’s pro-people policies.
The MLA acknowledged the efforts of Election Zone President Swarnjeet Kaur, District President Kashmir Kaur, Block President Kulwant Kaur Komal, Block Incharge Monika Thakur, Councillor Sukhdev Singh Patwari, and Preetma Devi in facilitating the induction of these families. He said the inclusion of over 50 families has further strengthened the AAP family.
Speaking on the occasion, Khushveer Kaur said the Bhagwant Mann government is committed to the overall development of Punjab and is consistently fulfilling the guarantees given by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal during the Assembly elections. She also stated that MLA Kulwant Singh had assured that the promise of providing ₹1,000 per month to women would also be fulfilled in the near future.
Several women leaders and supporters, including Manjinder Kaur, Maninder Kaur, Paramjit Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Indu Bala, Kuldeep Kaur, Meena, Khushveer Kaur, Baljeet Kaur, Sonia, Vandana Sharma, Pooja, Harjeet Kaur, Jasmine Kaur, Durga Rani, Surjit Kaur, Harpal Kaur, Aradhna, Jaswant Kaur, Simranjit Kaur, Madam Lovely, Babli, Lajwanti, Preetam Devi, Harvinder Kaur, and Harkirtan, were among those who joined the party.
