Chandigarh, December 29, 2025: In a major push to curb brain drain and create sustainable employment, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has reported significant achievements in job creation and skill development during 2025.
Sharing details, Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said Punjab has emerged as a land of opportunities, with youth no longer needing to look outside the state for growth.
Addressing the media, Aman Arora said that since April 2022, as many as 59,702 youths have been provided permanent government jobs across various departments. In addition, the government has successfully facilitated employment for 48,912 candidates in the private sector through 959 placement camps, while 10,064 youths were encouraged towards self-employment through loan camps during 2025.
Highlighting the government’s focused skilling initiatives, the minister said the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has trained 19,619 candidates, with placements currently underway. He added that Punjab has also launched its own skill development programme, “Punjab Hunar Vikas Yojna,” and forged strategic collaborations with global tech leaders Microsoft, IBM and NASSCOM to equip the youth for corporate and international roles.
“Punjab’s youth now has ample opportunities within the state,” Aman Arora asserted. “We are not just making promises—we are delivering appointment letters, skill certificates and creating pathways for entrepreneurship. We are building a self-reliant Punjab where talent is recognised, trained and retained.”
The minister further said the state’s official employment portal PGRKAM (punjabrozgar.org.in) has transformed the job ecosystem by registering over 22.41 lakh job seekers and 20,669 employers. Through the platform, 1,316 Job Melas have been organised, ensuring wider and transparent access to employment opportunities.
Punjab has also set national benchmarks in defence training. The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) recorded an impressive 82.45 percent success rate in NDA selections, with 34 cadets joining the NDA or equivalent academies and 17 cadets commissioned as officers in 2025.
In a landmark step towards gender parity, Punjab launched the country’s first state-run NDA Preparatory Wing for girls at the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute. Forty young women are currently undergoing training, while 10 lady cadets have been selected for Officer Training Academies and seven have already been commissioned as officers. Additionally, 74 lady cadets cleared CDS, AFCAT and NDA written examinations this year.
The minister also highlighted the contribution of C-PYTE centres, which have trained 8,017 youths for armed and paramilitary forces, with 1,236 securing placements in the current financial year.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Aman Arora said, “Every job created, every skill imparted and every entrepreneur nurtured is a step towards stopping the drain of Punjab’s most valuable resource—its youth.” He added that the Mann-led government is building a strong ecosystem of opportunities, ensuring a secure and aspirational future for young Punjabis within the state.
