Mohali (Punjab), December 29, 2025: The Punjab government has provided significant relief to allottees of Sectors 76–80 in Mohali by reducing the enhancement amount from ₹3,164 per square meter to ₹2,325 per square meter. The new rate is now applicable for all pending dues.
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) had earlier issued enhancement notices to residents three times—in 2007–08, 2010, and 2012.
However, due to delays in land acquisition and court cases filed by farmers, notices were issued directly to the residents in 2022. Allegedly, previous Akali Dal and Congress governments left files of 7,680 allottees pending, forcing residents to pay two to three times the amount as interest.
Speaking to the media, MLA Kulwant Singh said, “I have always been committed to resolving the problems of people in Mohali. The allottees of Sectors 76–80 were paying a huge amount in interest for years. After raising the matter with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the issue was promptly resolved, and the Cabinet approved this major relief today.”
MLA Singh also announced plans to discuss further reductions in enhancement charges with the Chief Minister. He expressed gratitude to CM Mann for his support and highlighted that the Punjab Cabinet has taken several other important decisions for Mohali and the entire state, aimed at providing relief to citizens.
To address the issue systematically, MLA Singh had formed an Anti-Enhancement Committee, appointing Sukhdev Singh Patwari as its president. The committee held multiple meetings with the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Housing Secretary, GMADA officials, and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
