Amritsar (Punjab), April 29, 2026:On the 40th anniversary of the 1986 Khalistan Declaration, five pro-Khalistan Sikh organisations on Tuesday reiterated their call for Punjab’s sovereignty, stating that they will continue their campaign through “legal, democratic, and principled means.”
The organisations — Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Dal Khalsa, Panch Pardani Jatha, Akal Federation, and the Jathedar Hawara Committee — issued a joint statement reaffirming their long-standing political position on self-determination and independence for Punjab.

Earlier in the day, a procession led by activists, including Simranjit Singh Mann, Daljit Singh, Kanwar Pal Singh, and Narain Singh, marched from Burj Akali Baba Phoola Singh to the Golden Temple complex, where the anniversary was observed with symbolic displays and speeches.

The groups stated that their envisioned political framework for “Khalistan” would include present-day Indian Punjab along with adjoining Sikh-majority regions. They added that their movement is rooted in the Sikh principle of “Sarbat da Bhala” and would aim to ensure equal rights for all communities.
The statement also emphasised that their struggle would remain non-disruptive and guided by ethical principles, while reiterating the use of “multiple democratic and political means” including advocacy and international engagement.
Referencing the 1986 declaration, the groups said they would continue to seek global support and raise their concerns before international platforms and governments, including those in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
